The Department for Education has again allowed secondary schools to have a staggered start to the school year, with approval from our Education Director. Both parties have approved the following to start the 2023 school year at Port Lincoln High School:
Years 7, 11 and 12 (including Special Options students in these year levels) will commence school on Monday January 30th
Years 8, 9 and 10 will commence school on Tuesday January 31st
We found this worked very well this year; it will again allow the new Year 7 students to have a full day as induction, including getting to know their Dharna Group peers, meeting their new teachers, logging in to the school’s computer network, becoming familiar with SEQTA, and many other important tasks that starting a secondary school requires.
For the Year 11 and 12 students, there will be a focus on setting up for success as a SACE student.
On the Tuesday, we will have an extended Dharna Group session for Lesson 1, then get straight into the regular timetable.
If you have any questions relating to the start of the 2023 academic year, please call the school on 8683-6000 from 9am on Monday January 23rd.
