“Imitation vs. Influence”: Emma Inspires Visual Arts Crew

Emma Fuss 1

During yesterday’s Year 9 Visual Arts lesson with Ms. Jarvis and Mrs. Green, our crew enjoyed the exciting opportunity to take part in a Zoom session with local award-winning visual artist Emma Fuss, co-creator of Bottlebrush Studios.

Emma is passionate about community arts and building creativity skills in young people. Our students prepared and asked a series of questions of Emma in order to discover more about the life of a visual artist and to deepen their understanding of the theme of originality in art; this aligned beautifully  with our current unit of work entitled “Imitation versus Influence”.

Emma shared valuable advice and practical tips on how artists can draw inspiration from others, how they appropriately acknowledge their influences, and how they engage creatively to develop their own unique artistic voice.

We sincerely thank Emma for sharing her expertise and inspiring our crew of young artists!
