Keen Contests at Year 7/8 Basketball Carnival

PLHS sent four eager teams to last week’s Year 7/8 Basketball Carnival – the boys’ event was staged at the Leisure Centre whilst the girls competed at Navigator College.

Throughout the day, we competed against teams from Cowell, Cleve, Cummins, Tumby Bay, Navigator College and St. Joseph’s School. Our students represented PLHS with pride, displaying excellent sportsmanship, respect, responsibility and inclusivity.

YEAR 7/8 BOYS (Attending Teacher: Mr. Michael Scheffler):

Our Division A team consisted of Harrison Lowe, Harry Rowley, Charlie Parker, Leo Warrior and Lincoln Stelzer-Linn. They went through the minor rounds undefeated but came up against a strong St. Joseph’s team in the grand final and ultimately went down by six points.

Connor Thompson, Angas Stoakes, Esix Curtis, Ari Franklin, Freddy Agius and Logan Miller formed our Division B team. After closing out the minor rounds with four wins and a one draw, they faced Cowell in the grand final; after a close, hard-fought game, they came out winners by seven points.

Thank you to Mr. Michael Scheffler and Year 10 students Jarran Durdin and Clifford Warrior for umpiring, scoring and coaching our boys teams throughout the day.

YEAR 7/8 GIRLS (Attending Teacher: Mrs. Yasmin Sampson):

Our Division A squad played Tumby Bay Area School in the Grand Final, with the Tumby girls taking the win. Our Division B team took home the pennant after winning their Grand Final.

Congratulations to all students who participated; it was an excellent demonstration of crew and team spirit!
