Awards Assembly Hosted by Paramedic & Policeman
A whole school assembly was staged in the Gym earlier this week to acknowledge the outstanding Term 3 achievements of well over one hundred students. We were again delighted to host a record number of proud parents and caregivers at the awards ceremony, and at the packed celebratory morning tea which followed in the Staff Room.
Tuesday’s audience was well entertained both before and after the assembly, with a host of students performing musical numbers – many thanks go to Isabella Zander, Cooper Hale, Aidan McMillan, Summer Thorpe, Osten Thorpe and Mr. Stephen Campbell.
The event was the final occasion that our “Class of 2026” Year 12 cohort would be in attendance with the rest of the school. Currently in their final week of formal classes at PLHS, the Seniors have enjoyed a fun dress-up theme each day. In line with Tuesday’s theme of “What I Wanted To Be When I Grew Up”, the assembly was compered for the final time by our School Captains, Paramedic Airlie Hartwich and Police Officer Max Stanley.
Proceedings commenced with a Welcome to Country from Year 7 students Jackson Long and Jairese Miller-Dorizzie, before Mr. Craig Akehurst delivered his wide-ranging Principal’s Address.
Year Level Support staff then announced the names of all those who had earned Academic Excellence Awards (based on outstanding grades on their Term 3 report cards) and/or Crew Awards (for consistently demonstrating our three school values – Responsible, Respectful & Inclusive), with Channel Leaders and Dharna Crew Leaders presenting certificates of achievement to the worthy recipients.
In a nice touch, the departing Year 12 Crew Award winners were presented with their certificates by the Year 7 Crew Award recipients from their respective buddy classes. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the “Class of 2026” was called up onto the stage for a group photo in their magnificent outfits.
We congratulate all the award-winners and again thank the parents/caregivers who continue to support our school.
