Outstanding Efforts on Operation Flinders Camp

Back in Weeks 2 and 3, a group of eleven PLHS senior Indigenous boys were selected to participate in Operation Flinders, a gruelling eight-day bushwalking camp held in the Flinders Ranges.
The Operation Flinders Foundation works to transform the lives of young South Australians aged 13–18. Based at Yankaninna Station in the northern Flinders, their program sees participants trek up to 100km, experience abseiling, Indigenous culture, bushcraft and build self-confidence through challenging themselves.
Our students – Orlando Saunders, Nathaniel Hirschausen-Burk, Brodie Carbine, Charlie Clements, Tristan Edwards, Trai Burgoyne, Jesse Retallick, Dre Vlassco, Leroy Miller, Ashur Miller-Pickett and Wesley Bilney – were accompanied by PLHS staff members Mr. Jacob Stoll and Mr. Hippy Wanganeen. As well as creating their own shelters under the stars and preparing and cooking their own meals, our lads embraced the abseiling challenge, gained valuable SACE credits and demonstrated their individual leadership skills.
The Operation Flinders Team Leader highly commended our group for their positive participation, attitude and engagement throughout the eight days. Congratulations all.
