Hospitality Students Embark on First “Career Trip”
On Wednesday June 23rd, a group of Year 10 students visited the Marina Hotel for the first of many visits to local hospitality venues. The “Career Trip” is part of a new subject being offered at PLHS; it features industry immersion, work experience opportunities and developing the literacy and numeracy skills required to work in the industry.
The course is part of a Flexible Industry Pathway (FIP) focusing on fast-tracking students who are interested in a career in hospitality, and equipping them with the skills to be industry-ready.
Our students were given a tour of the venue, and spoken to by Head Chef Izzy Morgan, who explained the vibrant atmosphere of working in a busy kitchen. Special thanks to Izzy and Marina Hotel Manager Steve Buckland for providing this opportunity to our group.
