Year 9 Japanese Crew Attends Peace Pole Ceremony

The Peace Pole program was founded by Japanese philosopher Masahisa Goi after the Second World War. There are currently over 300,000 poles in more than 200 countries around the globe, symbolising a common wish for a world at peace. Peace Poles display the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages – the one on our foreshore features English, Japanese, Croatian and Barngarla.

Our students fulfilled a variety of roles during the ceremony, including reciting peace messages in both Japanese (Luis Guamen and Neve Thomas) and Twi (Regina Aibi), bearing flags (Lilly Neve) and even supporting our Rotary partners with the sausage sizzle that followed (Brandyn Spriggs).

The event was a wonderful opportunity for our students to publicly demonstrate our school values (RESPONSIBLE ~ RESPECTFUL ~ INCLUSIVE). Well done to all involved in facilitating the ceremony.
