Success for VET Crew in WorldSkills Regional Comp
Yesterday, a crew of seven PLHS VET students travelled to Port Pirie to compete in the WorldSkills Australia VET in Schools Regional Competition.
WorldSkills is a nationally recognised competition that celebrates excellence in vocational education and training (VET). It provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate the practical skills they have developed through their VET studies in a real-world, industry-aligned environment. Students compete alongside other VET learners from across the region, completing challenges that reflect workplace standards and industry expectations.
Our students (who arrived in Pirie on Tuesday and stayed overnight) participated in the fields of Commercial Cookery, Make-Up and Carpentry. They demonstrated excellent skills, professionalism and commitment, representing PLHS with great pride.
We congratulate all seven students on their outstanding efforts and commend them for upholding our school values (Responsible ~ Respectful ~ Inclusive) throughout the competition. We would also like to acknowledge the individual success of the following students:
- Ella Day: Gold Medal – Make-Up Final
- Isaac Brougham: Gold Medal – Commercial Cookery Final
- Rylee Chatfield: Silver Medal – Make-Up Final
- Janica Shepperd: Silver Medal – Commercial Cookery Final
- Stevie-Rose Angelo: Bronze Medal – Commercial Cookery Final
These results are a wonderful reflection of the skill, effort and dedication shown by our students in their chosen vocational pathways.
A sincere thank you also goes to PLHS staff member Mrs. Nicola Baldissera, who generously gave her time to support our students and attend the event at short notice. Her commitment and support were greatly appreciated.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to apply their learning in a practical setting and showcase excellence in their respective fields. Congratulations to all involved.
~ Mr. Hayden Bennett (Student Pathways Leader)
