Governor Speaks with PLHS Student Leaders
Last week, Port Lincoln High School was privileged to receive a visit from Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia. Currently in her final month of a five-year term as South Australia’s 36th Governor, Her Excellency generously dedicated an hour of her busy schedule conversing with a select group of our senior school leaders.
During her tour of the Lower Eyre Peninsula back in October 2023, the Governor officially opened our Centenary Celebrations in the Nautilus Theatre. On this occasion, we were delighted to host Her Excellency at our school, with the meeting taking place in our Dem Lab.
Following an ice-breaking meet and greet activity around the room, the Governor skilfully compered a thoughtful and wide-ranging Q&A discussion with our student leaders. Themes of leadership, empathy, resilience, coping with loss, opportunity and the future were all explored, with the Governor kindly sharing insights from her broad experience and expertise.
Her Excellency was genuinely interested to hear from our students about various aspects of our school, from the Rural Youth Ambassador program and our Debating team success, to Bloom Leadership and our Crew culture; they spoke confidently and considerately in response to her probing questions.
We offer our sincere thanks to Her Excellency for visiting our school this morning and wish her all the best for her remaining tenure as Governor of South Australia.
