Year 8 Crew Delivers at YASTSA STEM Congress

Earlier this month, four of our Year 8 students – Leo Warrior, Lataya Carbine, Alex Ware and Kyla Kropinyeri – attended the Young Aboriginal STEM Thinkers of South Australia (YASTSA) Congress in Adelaide, where they proudly represented our school and assuredly delivered the STEM workshop they had been preparing for.

The Congress brought together Aboriginal students from across South Australia to celebrate and explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics, while recognising the importance of First Nations knowledge, innovation and culture.

Our students demonstrated exceptional leadership, confidence and resilience, stepping well outside their comfort zones to speak in front of more than 800 people and facilitate their workshop with students from a range of schools. They engaged positively with participants, shared their knowledge and supported others throughout the activities. During the Congress, they also had the opportunity to participate in a variety of STEM workshops, connect with other Aboriginal students and explore future pathways in STEM.

We are incredibly proud of the way these students represented our school. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, resilience and willingness to challenge themselves were all outstanding, and they should be extremely proud of what they achieved.
