Year 9’s Create Reconciliation Week Artwork

Earlier today, our Year 9 Dharna Crews took time to learn about and reflect on Mabo Day and the deep connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country.

We all have a connection to where we live — the place we call home. In their Dharna Crews, students wrote down a word, feeling or thought that represented their connection to country or home, inspired by what they learned. They then had the opportunity to complement their word by painting an artwork on a gum leaf. Together, these will become part of a visual representation of our collective reflections to be displayed within the school.
