Remarkable 45km Trek for Year 11 Outdoor Ed Class

Last week, Mr. Jake Stoll’s Stage 1 Outdoor Education class visited the Mount Remarkable National Park, enjoying fine weather and beautifully diverse terrain throughout a three-day trek.

Over 45km were covered on foot, the majority of which were on the Thursday. Having recently been affected by fires, the national park was a little charred and desolate in some sections, adding contrast to those areas unaffected and full of life.

Highlights of the camp included passing through Hidden Gorge and The Narrows, sections of the loop where the red rock rises high above the riverbed we walked upon. After a night spent at the Hidden Gorge campsite, the group marched quickly back to the bus; lightened packs and the thought of a shower once back in Port Lincoln ensuring the pace was faster than ever.
