A shout out from Governing Council to all Port Lincoln High School families. We hope you got through the fires OK. We thought you’d like to know that the GC has conducted its AGM and first meeting of the year. There was a real buzz as new members were welcomed and each person talked about learning and teaching success.
Principal Todd George spoke about “POSITIVE LEARNING CULTURE” and the great start that students have made to the year. One hundred and thirty new students have started their PLHS journey, and the next one hundred years of high school education and service to youth begin. That’s right, the school is celebrating a major milestone this year and the party begins soon…
As we all know, the 2020, 2021 and 2022 school years were dominated by COVID. In 2023 however, your Governing Council is keen to focus on some other “C” words – we want to connect with our community and celebrate our centenary.
On Wednesday March 22nd (5-7pm), please join us for a (long-awaited) Open Night. Come and casually meet your student’s teachers, check out our newest facilities and grab a sausage off the ‘cue. There will be coffee and there will be cake. We hope to “C” you there.
PS: The Governing Council will be meeting from 6:30pm on that evening, so come in, say g’day and put faces to names.
If you can’t always make a meeting (or they’re just not for you), that’s okay – if you register for our Parent Reference Group you can connect directly with the Council, provide input and influence the decision-making that impacts your child’s education. So, you can be out of it… and be in it… as long as you connect.
Want to know more? Please call Rachael in the school’s Front Office on 8683-6000 – she can assist or connect you directly with a GC member.
Kind regards,
Brian Gabb & the PLHS Governing Council Team
