Bell Shakespeare Trio Deliver Two Incredible Shows

✨ Last Friday, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting Kate, Umai and Ollie from The Players, Bell Shakespeare’s touring ensemble of professional artists who bring Shakespeare to life in schools and communities across Australia. In what was the final stop on their regional tour of South Australia, the highly talented and energetic trio — a.k.a. “Team Titania” — treated our students to two incredible performances. 🎭

PART 1: 💖 Such Sweet Sorrow brought Romeo and Juliet to life with quick-fire costume changes, clever staging, and plenty of laughs. Students were hooked from start to finish as the story, themes, and language of Shakespeare’s classic unfolded before their eyes.

PART 2: 🗡️ Macbeth: The Rehearsal gave us a behind-the-scenes look at how actors prepare for one of Shakespeare’s darkest plays. Through audience interaction, our students explored the big themes — ambition, loyalty, betrayal, and madness — and even asked some brilliant questions about the fine line between actor and character.

In true Crew spirit, PLHS students and staff were invited to participate in interactive sections of both shows – I delivered a few lines as R&J’s Prince Escalus, while a special mention must go to “King” James Zanello, who shone as Macbeth’s King Duncan.

As always, Bell Shakespeare delivered a masterclass in making Shakespeare accessible, fun, and unforgettable – their shows are highly engaging and motivational for our English/Drama students and staff. As one of our highly valued community partners, we welcome them back year after year — bravo, Bell Shakespeare! 🙌
