Yesterday, our Year 10 SAASTA students culminated an eight-week learning expedition, with a community display of their artwork and portfolio of learning. Students were given the opportunity to present their learning to family, friends and esteemed members of the Port Lincoln community in the Aboriginal Education space. This public exhibition gave students an opportunity to be proud of what they have achieved and a space to display their work publicly.
Throughout this learning experience, students engaged with experts, working closely with acclaimed Barngarla artists Jenna and Vera Richards on storytelling through art and culture; they also participated in a special presentation from former AFL footballer, Graham Johncock and his story behind the design of the 2025 Adelaide Crows Indigenous Round guernsey.
Students conducted a fieldwork excursion along the Parnkalla Trail, seeking inspiration for their art from land and sea by exploring some of the beautiful cultural sights and stops along the way. They also sought regular feedback from one another to improve the quality of their work, demonstrating a strong Crew culture.
We thank those who attended the exhibition and our wonderful community members who were willing to give their time and expertise to support and empower our students’ learning.
