By the end of this week, around forty talented Year 9 Drama students (and a handful of Year 10 fill-ins) will have presented nine separate performances of our 2024 Pantomime – “The Runaway Sleigh” – to more than 1,000 children from all over the Lower Eyre Peninsula.
This year’s show – brilliantly conceived, written and directed by PLHS Drama teacher Mrs. Helen Marks – sees Santa and his reindeer chasing a mischievous bunch of elves around the globe on board the runaway sleigh. Along the way, they visit Germany, England, Australia and Japan, learning about how various Christmas traditions began and how it is celebrated in different countries.
In addition to the joyful festive theme, there is singing, dancing and plenty of jokes to delight audiences young and old. Aside from the engaging performances from our aspiring actors, the show is complemented by visually spectacular sets, costumes, props, lighting and technical effects. Providing wonderful collegiate support to Helen are Ms. Lynn Campbell, Mr. Stephen Campbell and Mrs. Cathy Crowder.
Bravo to the entire team – you’ve sleigh-ed it!
