Year 12’s Deliver “Delizioso” Italian Cuisine

Last night, our 2018 Year 12 Food & Hospitality students prepared and hosted a very successful pop-up Italian restaurant. As a class, they created the restaurant name – “Tavola” (Italian for table) – designed an event logo and thoughtfully selected dishes to feature on their menu, ensuring that all dietary requirements were considered.

In attendance was a full house of parents, friends and staff. They all enjoyed a “delizioso” three-course dinner for the bargain price of $15 per head; the reviews were outstanding.

Our students delivered a high quality menu of Italian cuisine, including arancini balls, bruschetta, ratatouille stacks, creamy chicken carbonara, Italian beef rolls and an Italian vegetable salad. A delicious dessert of passion fruit pana cotta, zeppotle (Italian donut Balls) and vanilla cannoli completed the evening.

This valuable experience allowed the students to develop skills in both food preparation and front-of-house service. As these images clearly show, there were plenty of smiles on the faces of the well-fed patrons – “grazie” for coming and well done to the students on their “fantastico” efforts.
