PLHS is delighted to welcome Waka Ueta to our school community. Waka is currently visiting Port Lincoln from the city of Muroto in Japan, and has been doing voluntary work assisting in our Japanese languages classes. She will stay in Port Lincoln for three months before undertaking further travel in Australia.
This is Waka’s third trip to our school and city – as a high school student, she visited here twice before as part of the ongoing friendship agreement between Port Lincoln and Muroto; she enjoyed her time here so much that she decided to return as an adult. Incidentally, Waka’s father is the recently elected mayor of Muroto.
As pictured below, Waka has been busy helping our students with their Japanese conversation skills, reading and writing Japanese characters and sharing information about the Japanese culture. We thank her for her generous contribution to our school and hope she enjoys her time in our community. Arigato, Waka!
