Tomorrow, Year 12 PLHS Food & Hospitality student Tahlia Weir will travel to Melbourne to compete in the 2023 WorldSkills Australia National Championships in Cookery.
Since 1981, WorldSkills Australia has enable young people to showcase their trade-related talents by facilitating skills-based competitions at regional, national and international levels. These events are aligned to National Training Packages, Apprenticeships Australia and Jobs Australia schemes; the annual National Championships are Australia’s biggest vocational education and excellence competition.
WorldSkills Australia provide regional winners from across the nation (such as Tahlia) with an opportunity to put their talents to the test against over 450 competitors in a range of vocations. Participants will benchmark their skills on a national stage as they compete for gold and a chance to represent Australia at the International Competition in Lyon, France, 2024. The event is forecast to attract over 20,000 visitors, industry leaders, experts and top education providers over three action-packed days.
We wish Tahlia all the best for her competition and look forward to tracking her results later this week.
