Shakira Lea Releases Debut Single

We were delighted to receive a recent update from former PLHS student, Shakira Lea Fauser. Now living in Whyalla, 19-year-old Shakira’s music career has reached the next level with the release of her debut single “I Miss You”.

Last year, singer/songwriter Shakira won the prestigious Whyalla Recording Scholarship. As a result, she was given the opportunity to work with Stormfront Productions to record and release an original song and music video, supported by twelve months of digital distribution and professional industry support.

Love, loss and heartbreak are some of the themes explored in Shakira’s music. A pop and country singer, she was inspired to write a song about child loss and miscarriage by friends in her life who have gone through the pain of losing a child.

“One of my friends who went through it would listen to ‘Small Bump’ by Ed Sheeran over and over and over again; she said it was mainly because she couldn’t find many other songs like it,” she said. “I decided to help and write my own.”

Shakira said the scholarship was a “huge step forward” for her music career. Singing and songwriting has been a part of her life since a young age, with the opportunity to perform music at Port Lincoln High School integral in her development as an artist. We wish her continued success.
