“Sayonara” and “Arigato”, Nozomi-san

Senior Japanese students recently held a small party to farewell and thank Nozomi Kiyohara for her voluntary work in our Japanese class over the last year.

Nozomi, who attended our sister school of Muroto High School, originally visited Port Lincoln High School back in 2019 as a member of that year’s Muroto Exchange delegation – Port Lincoln has a long-standing Friendship Agreement with Muroto. She returned last year on a working holiday visa and spent time at PLHS volunteering her time to share her knowledge of Japanese language and culture with our fortunate students.

Nozomi was well liked by our students and participated in activities such as conversation practice, Japanese cooking and shared videos and images of her life in Japan with our classes.

We wish Nozomi well as she settles back into life in Japan; we look forward to seeing her again when we visit Muroto with a group of senior Language students in October later this year.
