PLHS/TLC Students Successfully Complete Barista Course

A number of Year 11 and 12 students from Port Lincoln High School and the Teaching & Learning Centre engaged in a three-day barista course this week, facilitated by Dee Slade from Complete Hospitality and Training Services and coordinated by the Workabout Centre.

The course involved a full day of theory learning (including barista terminology), and a second of practical learning – this included how to make different types of coffee, and working as a team to take, make and deliver orders.

The third and final day was a community service day, where over 150 free coffees were served this morning to members of the community, families, school and Department for Education staff, and representatives from organisations such as West Coast Youth and Community Support and Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health Services – the school was also honoured to receive a visit from Mayor Diana Mislov.

Thank you to all involved, and a big congratulations to the students for a successful course and service day.
