The Transition & Learning Centre (TLC) is our off-site offsite flexible learning campus, located at 30 Edinburgh Street; a number of students complete subjects at both sites.
PLHS students can enrol at the TLC which provides access to a range of individualised accredited learning and SACE-based educational programs.
Our Purpose:
The TLC provides a flexible, safe, and supportive environment for students to experience success with their personal growth and educational goals. Each student will develop a negotiated SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education) learning and transition plan to work towards achieving their personal goals for life during and beyond secondary education.
Our Students:
Our cohort may include students who are:
• engaging with a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT)
• full-time apprentices requiring the completion of SACE compulsory subjects
• transitioning to work or further study whilst completing their SACE
• working and requiring a flexible timetable
• not experiencing success within a mainstream educational setting
• in need of literacy and numeracy intervention
• young parents
• better suited to an alternative educational setting
Our Vision:
Students will exit the TLC (Transition & Learning Centre) having realised their full potential and successfully completed their SACE and/or transitioned into community, work, or further education.
Our Team:
The TLC provides the opportunity for students to work with a diverse and experienced multidisciplinary team. Our team consists of teachers, accredited youth workers, classroom support staff, mentors, a range of service providers and registered trainers.
Our Support:
Our support team walk alongside students throughout their journey at the TLC. This team provide planning, goal setting, career advice, exploration and advocacy for options and services to meet students’ holistic needs. Our individualised support assists students to engage with their learning and pathway planning for the future.
Our Case Managers:
support young people with their wellbeing concerns to reduce barriers impacting on their ability to engage as learners
provide a safety net and motivational support for students to remain engaged with their study, personal goals, and transition to independence
