Content:
The Year 10 curriculum supports students to refine and apply strategies for maintaining a positive outlook and evaluating behavioural expectations in different leisure, social, movement and online situations. Students learn to critically analyse and apply health and physical activity information to devise and implement personalised plans for maintaining healthy and active habits. They also experience different roles that contribute to successful participation in physical activity, and propose strategies to support the development of preventive health practices that build and optimise community health and wellbeing.
Students will complete four practical units covering the four categories of sports; fielding & striking, net & wall, invasion and target. In these units, students will learn to apply more specialised movement skills and complex movement strategies and concepts in different movement environments.
Students will complete three theory units; Drugs & Alcohol, Mental Health and the Shine SA program. Students will investigate a range of drugs to develop an understanding of the dangers they present. They will create a poster or a fold out brochure which will provide people with the necessary information regarding a specific Mental Health Illness. Students will complete the Shine SA Year 10 Curriculum, with explores relationships and sexual health with an emphasis on friendships and intimate relationships.
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
