Year 7 Crew Goes “ALL IN” for Reconciliation

Throughout Term 2, the Year 7 Crew at PLHS have embraced every learning opportunity through the lens of Indigenous knowledge across HASS, English and Science. This immersion allowed our learners to recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, not just a one-week event. As part of our commitment to respectful and community-minded learning, the Year 7 Crew participated in last Friday’s “50 Years Deadly” NAIDOC March, becoming active citizens in our community.

Following the March along the foreshore, our learners celebrated at the Wombat Pit at Mallee Park with a cookout of food that had been prepared by the students to share. The time spent around the fire on the grounds of Mallee Park provided a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of local culture and history with Sharon Betts, Jack Johncock and Joe Burgoyne.

These experiences have strengthened the dispositions of empathy, resilience and respect within our Crew and are memories we hope follow them for a lifetime.
