Jekoa, Shane, Cruz & Naomi Attend YASTA Camp
Last month, four Year 8 PLHS students – Jekoa Allen, Shane Coaby, Cruz Miller and Noami Wells – travelled to Adelaide to particpate in a four-day YASTA Camp hosted by the University of Adelaide; YASTA stands for Young Aboriginal STEM Thinkers of South Australia.
Our students enjoyed the opportunity to participate in a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) tasks at Adelaide Uni, complete team challenges around the city of Adelaide in the style of “The Amazing Race” and complete a public speaking workshop.
Later this year, the four students will head back to Adelaide to present their own science experiment at the 2024 STEM Aboriginal Learners Congress; there they will meet prominent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scientists, engineers, educators, and much more.
