Final Day of Discovery for Future Studios Art Crew
Day 5 commenced with an inspiring weaving workshop with Kristal Matthews, artist and co-founder of Willay Designs; this was the perfect practice to encourage sharing of culture as our students learnt a variety of weaving techniques.
They continued their creative research and concept development towards what will become resolved works. Media experimentation informed student choice of materials, scale and presentation techniques. A sneak preview of their idea development can be seen in the photos attached.
Later, we were invited to view the curatorial development and installation of a new exhibition at ACE Gallery that opens Friday.
Congratulations to this week’s participating visual arts crew of Makasha Betts-Horace, Jahleah Miller-Pickett, Ciara Calgaret, Zerah Coleman, Taylah David-Mabura and Kaleigha Carbine-Smith; the girls were excellent ambassadors for PLHS, demonstrating their school values throughout the program.
It was a full week of learning, opportunities, future planning, fun and most all, art. Art is life.
