Book Week 2026 – An Incredible Success at PLHS

Book Week Wrap Up 1

Congratulations to our wonderful Resource Centre staff – Mrs. Rachel Ambrose and Ms. Beck Franklin – for their dedicated organisation and delivery of a highly successful Book Week. Rachel filed the following wrap-up report:

What an incredible week it was in the Resource Centre. There was a noticeable increase in our Dress-Up Day participation this year. The costumes were fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many students and staff getting into the spirit of the day. Our crews really embraced the theme, coming up with some incredibly novel ideas and putting so much thought and effort into their costumes. The enthusiasm, creativity and sense of fun throughout the day was fantastic to see.

We had over 300 students take part in our Book Week Brain Bender (an escape room-style scavenger hunt). It brought so much fun, countless smiles, laughs and plenty of those wonderful “AHA!” moments for everyone involved.

Amongst all that fun, students also developed valuable skills along the way. Each activity was designed to encourage students to explore and navigate our library catalogue system, locate and interpret information, solve problems, decipher riddles and clues, and work collaboratively. It was fantastic to see our students supporting one another, thinking outside the box, persevering with tricky challenges, and celebrating together when they finally cracked, or located a difficult clue.

And the excitement didn’t stop there… we also received over 150 entries across our other Book Week competitions – congratulations to all winners. Of our eight Golden Tickets, only half were discovered last week, meaning there are still four waiting to be found.

The comments we heard repeated throughout the week really summed it all up:

  • “That was so much fun!”
  • “This is the best Book Week we’ve ever had!”

A huge thank you to all students and staff who embraced Book Week 2026 at PLHS; by simply joining in on the fun, you helped make it such a memorable week in our Resource Centre.

Fun. Learning. Teamwork. Curiosity. And a whole lot of Book Week magic!

~ Mrs. Rachel Ambrose (PLHS Resource Centre)
