And We’re Away… Day 1 at PLHS
And We’re Away… Day 1 at PLHS
Over 740 students commenced the 2021 school year at Port Lincoln High School earlier today, either at our main site on Ruskin Road or at our Transition & Learning Centre campus on Edinburgh Street. Around 135 of these students are our new Year 8’s – we wish them and their families a special welcome to our school community.
Day 1 began at 8:40am with a whole school assembly in the Gym, where the student body was addressed by PLHS Principal Mr. Todd George. Middle School students remained in the Gym while the Year 11’s and 12’s headed off to the Senior Floor for further introductory messages from a range of key staff. Each student was then asked to join their Dharna Group teacher for an extended session leading up to Recess, after which the full timetable kicked into gear with regular classes commencing all over the campus.
Our first day back at school was covered by the local ABC Radio team of Emma Pedler and Evelyn Leckie; they set up an outside broadcasting booth near the Front Office and interviewed several staff and students about various aspects of the school. We thank Emma and Evelyn for this wonderful opportunity to share the excitement of Day 1 and our plans for the 2021 school year.
