32km Gawler Ranges Hike for Outdoor Ed Class
Last week, our Stage 2 Outdoor Education class headed north to the Gawler Ranges National Park for a three-day/two-night bushwalk; this camp served as part of the preparations for next term’s self-reliant bushwalk.
The eight Year 12 students – accompanied by Mr. Jake Stoll, Mr. Josh Partington and pre-service teachers Abby and Sam – enjoyed beautiful weather and had the park more or less to ourselves. Throughout the 32km hike, we spotted many kangaroos, goats, birdlife, and a sole wombat who quickly retreated to its burrow as we approached.
Our group also celebrated Charlie Todd’s eighteenth birthday on the Thursday, wearing party hats and enjoying a slice of chocolate mudcake around the fire in the evening.
On Friday morning, the group packed up and drove along some wonderfully corrugated dirt roads to Pildappa Rock, marvelling at the size of the granite outcrop, whilst also happily checking footy scores and messages from the top.
