National Close the Gap Day Recognised at PLHS

In recognition of National Close the Gap Day, a community barbecue was held in and around the PLHS Aboriginal Education Room at lunchtime today. As well as a host of students and staff, the event was well attended by representatives from a number of local service providers and partner organisations.

Across the nation, schools, businesses and community groups are encouraged to demonstrate their support for the Close the Gap campaign by marking National Close the Gap Day on the third Thursday in March each year. The aim is to bring people together to share information, and most importantly, to take meaningful action in support of achieving education, health and socio-economic equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Congratulations to Mr. CJ Dodd and the PLHS Aboriginal Education Team for their highly successful organising and delivery of today’s function. We sincerely thank our visitors for their ongoing support of our students.
