Music Equipment Generously Donated to PLHS

Late last year, I received a message stating that someone would like to donate some music/recording equipment to our school. After a few phone calls, I arranged to visit our benefactor (who wishes only to be named as David) and was overwhelmed by his generosity. He is leaving the Eyre Peninsula and decided he would rather donate than sell the apparatus.

Several members of the PLHS Music crew visited David’s property on two occasions, filling a bus (twice) and a utility with the donated equipment. There was a mixture of automated sound desks, hand-made valve guitar amplifiers, microphones, foldback systems, a PA, many guitar pedals, cables and some gear I am still yet to investigate.

We have recently managed to set up the band equipment inside the PLHS Hall and plan to demonstrate it to patrons at our upcoming Open Night (Wednesday March 26th 5~7pm). The school is in the process of organising a large window to be installed between two of the rooms upstairs in our Performing Arts Centre to best utilise the recording equipment.

By way of a small thank you to David, we invited him into our school last month to listen to a concert performed by our Music students using his donated gear; we also hope to show him our new recording rooms before he leaves the region.

Thank you again, David.
