The SA Stone Sculptors’ Association (SASSA) received funding from an Adelaide-based charitable trust to present a soft limestone carving ‘come & try’ workshop during Port Lincoln’s recent SALT Festival. In the following days, five workshops were conducted on site at Port Lincoln High School for students from PLHS, our Transition & Learning Centre and Saint Joseph’s School.
In what was SASSA’s first regional workshop tour, students participated in workshops of 2-3 hours in duration; following instruction in tool safety, they created original relief and 3D sculptures.
These workshops were thoroughly enjoyed by all participants; the students (and staff) were fully engaged in each session, producing a variety of realistic and abstract designs.
