While our Australian Dolphins Swimming Team is currently dominating at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the next generation of Australian swimming talent is competing in Melbourne this week at the 2026 School Sport Australia Swimming Championships; one proud representative of the South Australian team is our own Year 9 student, Lacey Cullen.
Lacey qualified to compete in several events throughout the national schools meet – she will race heats of the 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 50 backstroke, 100m freestyle, two medley relays and two freestyle relays.
Remarkably, Lacey is one of five Port Lincoln students in this year’s state team (for swimmers aged 13-19); this is an incredible achievement for a small regional community and the local West Coast Swimming Club.
According to her mother, Nat, Lacey is excited to represent PLHS and South Australia and is swimming really well thus far. We congratulate Lacey, her family and the West Coast Swimming Club on this wonderful achievement and wish Lacey and the SA team all the best for the championships.
