During Reconciliation Week earlier this year, we reported that Year 11 student Kiana Stafford was one of eight worthy recipients state-wide of a Dame Roma Mitchell Scholarship – these prestigious awards assist Aboriginal students with their Year 11 and 12 studies, supporting their SACE attainment and preparing them to pursue their educational and professional goals following school.

Last Thursday, Kiana was flown to Adelaide (accompanied by PLHS ASETO Miss Nicole Carter) to receive her scholarship at a ceremony held at the U City Function Centre on Franklin Street. She is pictured here with her well-earned award, flanked by Dame Roma Mitchell Scholarship Patron Mr William Brian Butler (left) and Department for Education Chief Executive Mr Rick Persse (right).
Congratulations once again to Kiana, her family and her teachers on this wonderful achievement, and many thanks to Nicole for supporting her to attend the reception.
