Jekoa Wins Yarning Circle Design Competition

Jekoa Allen (Year 7)

Congratulations to Year 7 student Jekoa Allen on her winning entry in our recent Yarning Circle Design Competition. Jekoa’s design was voted most popular by PLHS students and staff from a number of worthy entries; the competition was initiated by our SRC after they were successful in obtaining a $5,000 grant.

The grant, kindly provided by the Bullying. No Way! campaign, will be used in the creation of a yarning circle on PLHS grounds; staff and students will be able to share stories, ideas and learning experiences in a safe and inclusive space.

For her efforts, Jekoa won a $50 Bunnings voucher, a family pass to the upcoming Moscow Circus and a stunning painting and bag created by local Indigenous artist, Jenny Miller.

Well done to all involved – looking forward to seeing Jekoa’s design come to life on school grounds soon.
