INVITATION: SACE Aboriginal Education Project

Community Engagement // 11am September 1st // Mallee Park FC

INTRODUCTION:

The Aboriginal Education Project is a core component of the SACE Board’s Thrive strategic plan which is committed to fulfilling the learning entitlement of Aboriginal students. The project engages key stakeholders (students, school and Communities), to help us understand how we can give recognition of cultural learning completed by Aboriginal students, for SACE credits. We are also working to implement policy that will allow Aboriginal students to submit work in any subject (except English and languages) in an Australian language.

SCOPE:

The Aboriginal Education Project Team are looking for feedback from Aboriginal Community Elders and Leaders, Schools and teachers, Aboriginal students and their parents to:

Understand what would need to be true for students, schools and Communities:

1. To recognise self-directed cultural learning and community learning students are participating in.

2. To enable Aboriginal students to submit work in an Australian language

Understand what types of learning may happen in community and how schools and community can work together to determine how these are recognised.
