In order to prepare for next week’s Sports Day, PLHS staff participated in an athletic session on the Oval this afternoon. As well as practicing some of the finer points of the timing and scoring requirements, staff completed a number of track and field Standards events and novelty relays in their respective Sports Day houses.
After a series of 100 metre “sprint” heats, staff rotated through the shot put, javelin and long jump disciplines, with each attempt earning valuable house points. To conclude the session, the four staff houses were pitted against each other in a highly competitive egg-&-spoon race and an overs-&-unders relay – if these events were to become exhibition “sports” at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, we are ready to represent.
Congratulations to Miss Tayla Helbig, Ms. Caitlin Randall and the HPE crew for their wonderful organisation and delivery of this innovative and highly enjoyable session. As these images clearly show, the staff combined their natural athletic ability with wonderful house and collegiate spirit.
Go Crew!
* The final tallies for both student and staff Standards will be published soon.
