Yesterday, the Port Lincoln High School community gathered inside the Gym to celebrate the official induction of our 2026 House Leaders; we were again delighted to host many proud parents at our whole school assembly.
Our confident Masters of Ceremony were School Captains Airlie Hartwich and Max Stanley, who led proceedings with poise and professionalism. The assembly began with a thoughtful Welcome to Country from Year 7 student Jackson Long alongside his older sister, Year 9 student Skyla (who also happened to be celebrating her birthday).
Principal Mr. Craig Akehurst delivered an insightful address, highlighting the qualities of successful leadership and reflecting on the importance of a genuine Crew mentality. He noted that this spirit is often exemplified by the winning house during Sports Day, encouraging our new leaders to embody teamwork and community.
As the organiser of this year’s Sports Day (Tuesday March 3 at Ravendale), Mrs. Yasmin Sampson congratulated the House Leaders on their appointment. She also presented a historic running trophy which was generously donated back to our school last year – the Port Lincoln High School Forbes Cup was originally awarded to Miss Laurel Hookings in 1926. The 100-year-old artefact will be presented again at this year’s Sports Day to a deserving student, underlining our school’s proud sporting tradition.
The main purpose of the assembly was the announcement of our 2026 student House Leaders. Staff House Leaders took turns to proudly present certificates of achievement and badges of office to the following students:
