From Brunei to Port Lincoln – Ani & Sufe Visit PLHS

Last week, we were privileged to welcome and host Bu Ani and Bu Sufe, two teachers from our sister school Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan (MSPSBS) in Brunei. Despite leaving the tropical warmth of their homeland and arriving in Port Lincoln in the middle of a cold snap, Bu Ani and Bu Sufe fully embraced the novelty of rain boots, warm coats and rainbows!

The two ladies enthusiastically worked with our students throughout the week, sharing the wonderful culture and language of their country. Our Year 12 Food & Hospitality crew found their information about halal food preparation fascinating, whilst our Year 7 Bahasa students enjoyed receiving letters from MSPSBS students and writing replies for Ani and Sufe to take back with them.

During their stay, Ani and Sufe also enjoyed the best of Port Lincoln, including a marina tour on the PLHS school boat, an oyster farm experience (in waders), several seafood meals and visits to Glen Forest and Mikkira – even getting a selfie with a koala! They really enjoyed their time within our school community and have said they miss us already.

We will continue to foster our friendship and look forward to the many new joint global perspectives and activities that this opportunity will provide for our school.
