
Port Lincoln High School has welcomed five new teachers to our staff crew for the 2026 school year. All five kindly agreed to complete a brief introductory profile – we thank them for sharing their details below.

My name is… Mr. Boyd Baker.
My role at PLHS in 2026 is… to teach English, Hass, EIF/AIF and my Year 8 Dharna Crew.
Last year, I was… working at another EP school teaching English, AIF & Material Tech.
When I’m not at school, I like to… go fishing, surfing, camping, read, play music and a range of sports.
My name is… Miss Tara Baron.
My role at PLHS in 2026 is… to teach Stage 2 General English, Year 10 English and support our Priority Learners as Assistant Principal.
Last year, I was… working as Education Lead, Schools across the Port Lincoln 2 Local Education Team, supporting learners, leaders and teachers across the Eyre Peninsula.
When I’m not at school, I like to… travel, practice Pilates, read and get outdoors as much as possible.
My name is… Miss Sophie Kent.
My role at PLHS in 2026 is… teaching Health & Physical Education, Dance and Food Technology.
Last year, I was… working in Adelaide teaching a variety of subjects including senior Health & Wellbeing, Health & Physical Education, Food Technology, English and HASS.
When I’m not at school, I like to… go on adventures to explore new places, do Pilates, go to the beach and go camping with my Border Collie.
My name is… Mr. Max Parsons.
My role at PLHS in 2026 is… as a Dharna Crew Leader of 9E, whom I teach for Mathematics and Science; I am also teaching the 9A Dharna for Mathematics and Science, and Stage 2 Sport Studies.
Last year, I was… completing my final year of university; for my final placement, I was fortunate to be placed here at PLHS and was able to form a strong connection to Port Lincoln – when I had the opportunity to come back and begin my teaching career at PLHS, it was impossible to say no!
When I am not at school, I like to… walk and meet new or familiar faces and have chats; I am also big into my cricket, going for a swim or heading to the gym, as well as trying to get in as many rounds of golf as I can.
My name is… Mr. Deacon Penn.
My role at PLHS in 2026 is… to teach Physical Education, Science and Mathematics in our middle school.
Last year, I was… teaching between two Adelaide schools on a Special Authority to Teach (SAT) during Terms 3 and 4; this is my first year as a fully registered teacher.
When I’m not at school, I like to… hit the surf, go camping, play footy, run, read and listen to music.
