Dancers Preparing to Wow Audiences

Our Year 10/11/12 Creative Arts and Dance students are preparing to wow audiences next week with the annual dance production. This year’s theme, “THIS IS ME”, is about students showcasing who they are and being proud of what they have achieved in their lives and as dancers.

The show combines choreography from Stage 2 students, guest choreographer Piter Pantoja Lopez and Hanna Minchin. Working in a professional theatre is an exciting experience for all involved and there are many transferable life skills involved in the preparation and presentation of a public event.

The performance is approximately one hour long, with no interval. It is a family friendly event which may include strobe lighting. The performance comprises Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop dances. There will also be a Visual Art and Design exhibition showcasing PLHS student works.

“THIS IS ME” will be my fourth PLHS dance production, and these performances are always an amazing highlight of my year. I absolutely love dancing and being creative. This year I have choreographed a group dance piece about the ocean named ‘Desolate Blue’, as I adore living in our coastal town. The dance is also metaphorical for social issues occurring in teenagers’ lives. The amount of hard work and passion I have put into the production has me very excited to share my new choreography and all routines in this incredible show on the 29th of June.”” ~ Abby Hodgkiss (Year 12 Stage 2 Dance student)
