A group of senior Visual Arts students spent the last two days of Term 1 in Adelaide, participating in the annual PLHS Year 12 Art/Design Trip.
After the 2020 excursion was cancelled due to COVID-19, this year’s itinerary featured several fantastic new venues. For the designers, these included KWP! (advertising agency), Wow Creative (graphic design studio), Khai Liew (furniture designer), and 1000 Chairs/Mid Century Modern (furniture showrooms). Meanwhile, artists visited the APY Art Centre Collective (Aboriginal art gallery), CDW Studios (school of visual effects and entertainment design) and a range of thought-provoking public and street art.
These exciting new options were combined with traditional favourites such as UniSA’s City West campus, JamFactory, the SACE Art Show, an architectural tour of the SAHMRI building, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Bang & Olufsen showroom, and the Alessi/Georg Jensen displays at David Jones.
It is hoped that exposure to this array of contemporary art/design experiences will provide our students with inspiration for their remaining projects, and a greater understanding of related tertiary and career options.
We sincerely thank their families for supporting the students to attend, and Mr Michael Paech for his valuable assistance throughout the trip.
